We cannot deny the fact that technology has change

d how most people live. If you look around you, it is assured that you will see a piece of technology, be it a smartphone, tablet or a laptop. With these devices, some tasks are now much easier to do. Information is now more accessible and communication with other people is now more convenient. And now that the world is becoming more technologically advanced, the number of benefits that technology can provide continues to grow. This is made possible by technological empowerment.

But first, you might wonder, what is technological empowerment? Buying a cellphone and using it merely for calls or texts isn’t considered as an example of technological empowerment. This only happens when a certain piece of technology is subjected to modifications or improvements. Examples include installing an app or other software, and adding hardware to your device for the purpose of reinforcement.

Over the years, we have witnessed great advancements in technology. And since the products of these advancements are improved and modified versions of their predecessors, these are also examples of technological empowerment. Thanks to the innovative minds that gave birth to these devices, we are now entering a new era. In this era, we just might see the future that Marty McFly saw in Back to the Future Part II. In this depiction of the future, we saw devices that are currently available in the market. We saw televisions that can have up to hundreds of channels, big screens instead of billboards, hoverboards as replacement for skateboards, the powerlace shoes (for those who are too lazy to tie their shoelaces), communication devices like portable phones, and even holograms. Aside from the devices present in this film, other examples of devices that have undergone technological empowerment include personal computers which superseded typewriters, flashdrives and external hard drives that can contain up to thousands of megabytes compared to their predecessors, floppy disks which can only contain up to 2 or 3 megabytes of data, and WiFi, which allows people to have access to the internet regardless of where they are, instead of the wired connection, which allows a person to work only in his or her work area.

These are just some of the devices that made our world closer to the future that we all have in mind. With these advancements, it’s hard to imagine what the future has in store for us. Someday, possibly, in the near future, considering how rapid is the process of technological empowerment, we will all look back on the devices we have today for these will surely be replaced with devices that have more functions and features that we may use in our daily lives. Who knows? Maybe two or three years from now, flying cars might be available in the market.
